Graveside services for Joe Charles Heilman, 94, of Onalaska, Texas, will be held Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. in the Magnolia Cemetery in Onalaska, Texas with Pastor Allen Bramlett officiating. Military honors will be provided by VFW Post #8568. Visitation will be held from 10:30 - 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 in the Cochran Funeral Home in Onalaska, Texas.

Mr. Heilman was born November 21, 1924 in Rockwood, Texas, to parents, Harley O. Heilman Sr. and Ollie Mae (Dungan) Heilman, and passed away December 2, 2018 in Corrigan, Texas. During his lifetime, Joe proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He was a life member of the VFW Post #9873 in Franklin, Texas since 1985. Joe also served as the Post Commander several times. He is preceded in death by his parents; great-granddaughter, Maddy Haecker; son-in-law, Bill Haecker; step-son, Robert Holloway; brothers, Virgil R. Heilman, Harley O. Heilman Jr., and Kenneth R. Heilman; sister, Jessie M. Stephens; and step-brother, Edward Heilman.

He is survived by his wife, Lela Fern Heilman of Onalaska, Texas; daughter, Connie L. Haecker of Onalaska, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Carol Anne Heilman of Onalaska, Texas; step-son, Roger Holloway and wife, Tina of Brazil, Indiana; step-daughter-in-law, Sue Holloway of Atlanta, Indiana; granddaughters, Christa R. Sulewski and Peter of West Point, New York, Caren Heilman Quillen and Mathew of Austin, Texas, and Aimee Haecker and Dale Tucker of Huffman, Texas; and grandson, Bill H. Haecker and Lina of Houston, Texas; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
