Funeral services for Joe Dan Pridgen, 72, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Friday, September 15, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas with Rev. Harold Isaacs officiating. Interment will follow in the Bold Springs Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 14, 2017 in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas. Joe was born December 23, 1944 in Livingston, Texas to parents, Clarence and Adderie (Anderson) Pridgen, and passed away September 13, 2017 in Livingston, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Marion (Sonnyboy) Pridgen and sister, Mildred Thompson Hamilton.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Pridgen of Livingston, Texas; daughter, Jo Ann Pridgen of Livingston, Texas; daughter, Sarah Mangham of San Antonio, Texas; grandson, Brent Mangham of Kyle, Texas and grandson, Joshua Pridgen of Livingston, Texas; sister, Pauline Maze of Livingston, Texas; sister in law, Virginia Aubrey Hubert of Livingston, Texas; along with numerous other nieces, nephews, and friends.
Joe was a Registered Professional Surveyor since 1970 and owner of Pridgen Land Surveying. He loved to survey and was always equipped with all types of instruments, from chains and compasses to modern day GPS, which allowed him to complete all jobs in the best manner possible. Joe was saved at Bethel Baptist Church and baptized by Bro. C.L. Moore. Later in life, Joe was ordained as a Deacon at Shoreline Baptist Church. While there, Joe was called and ordained by Magnolia Hill Baptist Church to be their pastor. Joe was also pastor at East Tempe Baptist Church until he had to leave due to medical reasons. Joe loved his family and lived for his two grandsons. Joe was always happy and tried to create a pleasant atmosphere for everyone around him, family, friends or strangers. Joe was ready to meet his Lord and has traveled home to be with HIM.
