John D. Ener, age 71 of Shepherd, Texas, passed away on July 8, 2013 in Houston, Texas. John was born on February 2, 1942 in Jasper, Texas, to parents Grady and Allie Mae (Brown) Ener.

John is preceded in death by both of his parents; wife, Peggy Ener; son, Grady Ener; brother, Loyd Ener; niece, Tammy Kay; great-grandchild, Baby E; and best friend and first cousin, Jerry Brown. He is survived by his son, Ricky Darell Ener of Dayton, Texas; son and spouse, James Ener and Deniece Haskins of Shepherd, Texas; step-daughter, Alana Eakes of Kountze, Texas; step-daughter, Dee Chaney of Shepherd, Texas; son and spouse, Ernest W. Ener and Debbie Ward of Shepherd, Texas; grandchildren, Christina Moran, Amber Bayless, Rosa Ener, Jewel Ener, Austin Ener, Brian Chaney, Lavonn Chaney, Johnathan Chaney, Honey Holloway, Cody Holloway, and Billy Wayne Eakes; great-grandchildren, Brooke Chaney, Addaline Ener, and Adryan Escobedo; three brothers, Troy, Kenneth and Boyd, and their spouses; two sisters, Barbara and Louise, and their spouses; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

John D. Ener will be escorted to his grave by pallbearers, Kenneth Ener, Boyd McDaniel, Brian Chaney, Johnathan Chaney, Roy Ener, Justin Ener, and Troy Ener. Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Brown, Jr. and Cory Davis.

Services for John D. Ener will be held Friday, July 12, 2013, at 1:00 PM, at Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas. Bro. Harold Isaacs will be officiating the service. Interment will follow at Farley Chapel Cemetery in Shepherd, Texas. Military Honors will be provided by VFW Honor Guard Post #8568.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 11, 2013, at 5:00 PM, also at Cochran Funeral Home.
