Memorial services for John Hilton Goins, 83, of Onalaska, Texas, will be held Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church in the Holy Grounds Room on the 2 nd floor of the Discipleship building in Livingston, Texas with Rev. Steve Woody officiating.
John Hilton Goins, born July 4, 1935 in Groveton, TX to parents, Lister and Vessie, as a set of triplets, passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2019. John was 83 and a resident of Onalaska, TX at the time of his passing. John is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Margie Reed, Minnie Bea, and Winnie Campbell; brothers, Orville, James Milton, and Gerald Wilton; daughter, Terri Powell; and grandson, William Bennett. John is survived by his wife, Patsy; sons, Henry Rein and wife, Margie, Leslie Goins and Virginia, and John; daughters, Dawn Gray and husband, Cody, Donna Knight, and Debbie Mask and husband, Gary; and grandchildren, Damien Goins, Levi Goins, Dylon Goins, Connor Gray, AJ Little, Sarah Wood, Annanell Franklin, Heather Rein, Ashley Rein, Chelsea Rein, Jessica Middleton, Josh Overstreet, Daniel Parrish, Brandon Parrish and David Mericle; along with numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
John was a dearly beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend to many, including extended family and his East Texas Emmaus Community. He served in the Army as a young man, then went on to find his niche in the chemical engineering field. He was a small town boy who lived and travelled the world, yet needed a translator for his written reports to decipher his East Texan dialect. Any story regarding John is accompanied by a smile, a chuckle, and often a full belly laugh. John is and will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Honorary Pallbearers: sons, Les, Hank, Cody, Alvin and Duane; grandsons, Damien, AJ, Levi, Dylon, Connor and Bryan.
Following the service anyone who wishes can gather with the family at the Onalaska Volunteer Fire Dept. with food to be served by 5:00pm. Anyone that wishes to drop food or refreshments may do so, but it is not necessary.
In lieu of cut flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to the City of Onalaska Public Library, Goins Memorial (please include 'for library' in the memo); 372 FM 356 South, Suite 103, Onalaska, TX 77360
