Graveside services for John Richard King, 87, of Livingston, Texas will be held Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. in the Camp Ruby Cemetery in Livingston, Texas with Bro. Bryan Dickens officiating.
Mr. King was born June 20, 1931 in the Charity Ward of St. Joseph's Hospital in Houston, Texas to parents, John Henry King and Willia Maude (Mercer), and passed away August 1, 2018 in Livingston, Texas. J.R. Graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1951 and later he continued his education at University of Houston. During his life, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a Bellville ISD School Board Member. J.R. popped popcorn for the Bellville Band Booster concession stand, helped keep the swimming pool pumps going, and was a little league coach. He was also a member of the Methodist Men and was the official coffee maker for the Joy Sunday school class. In his younger days, he worked shelling pecans for Linseisens Feed Store. He made his career working at Shell oil company as a research Technician. During His many years at Shell he received several patients in his field of expertise. After many years working at Shell oil he retired in 1986. In his spare time, John was the neighborhood "watch dog" and the loaner of trailers, tools, and advice (solicited or unsolicited). He is preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers; and 3 sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn King of Livingston; daughters, Kellie Flowers and husband, Patrick of Livingston, and Kimberly Bosley of Brenham; grandchildren, Lacey Jeanette Bosley of Brenham, Kaleb Andrew Bosley of College Station, Jamesley J. Flowers of Livingston, and Asher Lens Flowers of Livingston; great-grandchildren, Dustin Christopher Bosley, Eli James Seddon, and Jayde Elizabeth Kathryn Seddon all of Brenham; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
Honorary Pallbearers: Patrick Flowers, Kaleb Bosley, Jamesley Flowers, Lens Flowers, Dustin Bosley, Eli Seddon.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lake Tomahawk Christian Retreat, 408 Lake Tomahawk, Livingston, Texas 77351.
