John Pharris age 77 of Shepherd passed away Friday April 30, 2010 in Elkhart. Funeral services will be Wednesday May 5, 2010 at 2:00PM in the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in New Waverly, with Rev. Robert Nichols officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope Missionary Cemetery. Visitation will begin one hour prior to service time.

John was born August 3, 1932 in Elkart to parents Alvy Pharris and Merti Lambright Pharris. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy.

He is survived by his wife Darlene Pharris of Shepherd, daughters Nola Porter and husband Tom of Cleveland, Darla Matthews and husband David of Spring, son Rodney Woodward of Euless, sister Barbara Jean Story of Fairfield. He is also survived by his grandchildren Joshua DeLafuente, Tom ""Scooter"" Porter Jr., Misty Porter, David Mathews Jr., Dyllon Mathews, Jackie Cherry, and Khaya Sioux Woodward, and great grandchildren Julie DeLafuente, Graci Lynn Gregg.
