John Walter Shotwell, age 70, of Livingston, Texas, passed away in Lufkin, Texas, on April 15, 2013. John was born on November 27, 1942, in Freeport, Texas, to parents, Burl and LuLu Mae Gaskey Shotwell.

John is preceded in death by both of his parents. He is survived by his wife, Betty Shotwell, of Livingston, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Robin Shotwell, of Livingston, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Belinda Shotwell, of Livingston, Texas; daughter, Kerrie Shotwell and special friend Theresa Gibbs, of Lufkin, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Winnie Dell and George Saxton, of New Caney, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and James Shires, of Lufkin, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Burl, Jr. and Tommie Shotwell, of Livingston, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Doug Nicholson; grandchildren, Joshua Shotwell and wife Haley, Brittany Shaw and husband Joseph, Joseph Shotwell and wife Emily, Jeremy Shotwell, Zoey Shotwell, and Jake Shotwell; great-grandchildren, Lyric Borque, Lorelai Borque, Peyton Shotwell, and Katherine Shotwell; numerous other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. John will be escorted to his grave by pallbearers, Joshua Shotwell, Joseph Shotwell, Jeremy Shotwell, Luther Lafferty, Mark Shires, and Tommy Saunders. Honorary Pallbearers will be, Clint Davis, John Davis, Ricky Davis, Bobby Kimes, Virgil Cain, Bubba Piper, Lynn Hendrix, Mike Scott, Robert Murphy, Joe Vann Richards, Dennis Quinlan, Brian Lafferty, and Eric Lafferty.

Services for John Shotwell will be held Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at 2:00 PM, at Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas. Rev. Mitchell Murphy will be officiating the service with the assistance of Joshua Shotwell, who will be reading his grandfather' obituary. Interment will follow at Camp Ruby Cemetery, in Livingston, Texas.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at 5:00 PM, also at Cochran Funeral Home.
