Obituary

John A. Stefan, aged 90, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2024, and was welcomed into the loving embrace of his Savior. He entered this world on September 10, 1933, in Canton, South Dakota, born to Lawrence & Ruth Stefan.

Following high school graduation, John served in the United States Army.  After his honorable discharge, he attended and graduated from LeTourneau Technical Institute.  John's diligent work ethic led him to become an electrical engineer employed by IBM.  Upon his retirement, he served 25 years overseas ministering to the people of Croatia.  He taught computer skills to young people, preached in churches, camps, and homes, served as chaplain for the English courses, ministered to pastors, families and to the youth. He was known for his passion for witnessing and telling others about having a relationship with Jesus, his Lord.

John was a generous man who freely gave to meet the needs of others.  He loved the outdoors and was a proud Texan. Upon returning to the U.S., he was a faithful and dedicated member of Point Blank Community Church.  John spoke at many area churches, led weekly Bible studies at a nursing home, and served as the chaplain for the Point Blank Volunteer Fire Department. His legacy lives on through his family, his church, and the countless lives he touched.  John's greatest desire, however, would be for YOU to know the Jesus he cherished.

He is survived by his devoted wife of almost 40 years, Lois Stefan; children, Alton Stefan and wife Molly, Sherry Youngblood and husband Jack, Glenn Stefan, and Nancy Larkin and husband Randy; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial donations be made to Point Blank Community Church in memory of John Stefan. The church address is PO Box 523, Point Blank, TX 77364. All contributions will be collected and directed towards supporting Frank and Emily Tijesterman, dedicated missionaries serving in Croatia, continuing the legacy of John's heartfelt commitment.

The memorial service will be at Point Blank Community Church, Point Blank, Texas, on February 3rd at 1 o'clock.

Interment will be at Houston National Cemetery.
