Memorial services for Johnnie D. Keen, Sr. age 84, of Shepherd, Texas will be held Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the Home of Mr. Keen in Shepherd, Texas.
He was born June 29, 1927 in Carmona, Texas the son of Henry Wesley Keen and Alice Lea Baxter Keen and passed away on September 10, 2011 in Livingston, Texas.
He was a truck driver in his young life and even hauled Lyndon B. Johnson' cattle. Later, Johnnie became a home builder and built for Tilson, Superior, Kumno, M. Ellis, and Kelly and Pope Homes. When he retired in 1988 he did a lot of crafts and was known for his famous Bar-B Que. He was a member of the FM 1127 V. F. D. and he did all of their Bar-B Que fundraisers. He was known as ""Mr. Christmas"" for his home decorations and his first place trophies. He was very community oriented and always helping his neighbors. He always kept a very pretty yard and garden and shared with his family and friends. Johnnie was an awesome family man and a wonderful husband. He loved all of his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
John is survived by Dorris Fairbanks Keen, wife, of Shepherd, Texas, Johnnie and Dianne Keen, son and daughter-in-law, of Splendora, Texas, Alice Wilcoxson, daughter, of Splendora, Texas, Debra ""Sam"" and Randy White, daughter and son-in-law, of Splendora, Texas, Linda Keen, daughter, of Splendora, Texas, Brienda Sims, daughter, of Splendora, Texas, Ronnie Dean Burrows, son, of Houston, Texas, Angela and Matt Hollie, daughter and son-in-law, of Cleveland, Texas, Nancy Thomae, daughter, of Cleveland, Texas, Vicki Keen, daughter, of Houston, Texas, Joni and Joe Luton, daughter and son-in-law, of New Caney, Texas, Jennifer and Adrian Harbour, daughter and son-in-law, of Cleveland, Texas, Rebekah and Rick Zimmer, daughter and son-in-law, of Cleveland, Texas, Vickie and Larry Thumann, step-daughter and son-in-law, of Splendora, Texas, Richard Anderson, step-son, of Shepherd, Texas, Ronald and Maria Anderson, step-son and daughter-in-law, of Conroe, Texas, Lynn Anderson, step-son, of Shepherd, Texas, Curtis Keen, brother, of Plum Grove, Texas, Virginia and Archie Cude, sister and brother-in-law, of Gilmer, Texas, 40 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. Numerous other relatives and friends also survive.
