Johnny Ray Davis 79 of Livingston passed away Sunday June 8, 2008 at his home surrounded by his family. Memorial services will beheld Saturday June 14, 2008 at 3:30PM in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Frank E. Hood officiating. Visitation will be held for family and friends Friday June 13, 2008 from 6:00PM until 9:00PM in the Cochran Funeral Home as well.
Johnny was born October 5, 1928 to parents J. ""Pop"" Adkins Davis and Octavia Purswell Davis. He graduated from Livingston High School in 1947, then went on to graduate from Pineywood Business College in 1948, were he received his Junior Accounting diploma. Johnny later became a Field Inspector for the Trinity River Authority. His favorite pastime was being a cattleman and rancher. He also helped his dad run the Davis Motor Co. from 1936 until 1966. He married his wife Jeannie Davis on October 5, 1974.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years Jeannie Davis of Livingston, son J. Adkins Davis II of Livingston, daughter Dee Anne Davis Cook of Splendora, grandchildren Shannon McIntyre, Patrick McIntyre, Darbi McIntyre, Tanner McIntyre, great grandchildren Dakota Chapman, and Ashe McIntyre. He is also survived by his brother Earl Eugene Davis, and nephews Ronnie Davis, Ricky Davis, Reggie Davis, his best friend Val Hickman, and special care givers Doris Stockton and Ann Skelly.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Greg Ogletree, Calvin Salter, Aubrey Nettles, Jon Nettles, Danny Moseley, Marvin Adams, Boyce Parrish, Val Hickman, Joel Puckett, Finis Larrison and Charles Gokey.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.
