Joseph Roy Newman
Joseph Roy Newman, age 83, of Onalaska, Texas passed away July 8, 2012 in Livingston.
He was born August 28, 1928 in Erin, Texas to Joe Newman and Ollie McLemore Newman. Joe graduated in 1946 from Jasper High School, and was an Army veteran, serving in Korea with Co. K, 179th Infantry, 45th Division. He spent over 35 years working with Shell Oil at the Deer Park refinery.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Geraldine Hilliard Newman is survived by two daughters, Jerilyn Newman Pennell and husband David of Austin, and Joellen Newman Tipton and husband Cullen of Onalaska; grandchildren, Erin Pennell Zamore, Joel Pennell, Connor Tipton, and Kaitlyn Tipton.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, July 14 at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home in Onalaska, with Rev. Harold Isaacs officiating. Military honors to be provided by the VFW Post #8568. Burial will at 3:00 PM at Zion Hill Cemetery in Jasper, Texas. Visitation will be held on Friday beginning at 5:00 PM in Onalaska.
