Obituary
Funeral services for Joyce Violet Bailey, 80, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Thursday, October 2, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas with Rev. Wayne Bickley officiating. Interment will follow in the Menard Chapel Cemetery in Segno, Texas. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 1, 2014 beginning at 5:00 p.m. in Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.
Joyce Violet (Sissy) Bailey was born in Polk County, TX to Hollie and Frances Bailey, on January 9, 1934. She was one of nine children that were part of a loving, Christian family. They grew up in Big Sandy where, upon retiring after 37 years from the Houston Oilers, Joyce returned to live at the "home place" for the remainder of her life.
Sissy's strength in Jesus Christ led her through the ups and downs of life. She was a dedicated member of Soda Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, prepared the Sunday morning coffee, and was always helping out in the kitchen. She loved her Sunday School class and pastor. She will be dearly missed by all of her friends there.
She will be remembered by many for her canned goods that were shared and delivered with a smile. She was always lending a helping hand to those who needed it most. She was also an animal lover who had some sort of critter at her home to care for at all times.
She is preceded in death by 2 sisters: Pearl O'Neill and Berniece Watson; 3 brothers: Hollie Bailey, Jr., L.E.Bailey, and her twin brother, Vol Bailey.
She will be sorely missed by her sisters Hazel Milliken and Maudine Anderson; her brother, T.A. (Buck) Bailey; many nieces and nephews; and other family members and friends.
