Funeral services for J.R. "Jim Bob" Young, 75, of Onalaska, Texas, will be held Friday, May 11, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas with Don Boyett officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, May 11, 2018, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., before the service begins, in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas. A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Knights of Honor Cemetery in Blossom, Texas with Bro. Glen Latimer officiating.
Mr. Young was born July 22, 1942 in Paris, Texas to parents, David Young and Florine (Herron) Young and passed away May 8, 2018 in Huntsville, Texas. J.R. "Jim Bob" graduated from Blossom High School in 1960 and enjoyed playing high school basketball. He wore several hats and had many careers along the way. He worked in retail sales for several decades and owned several small businesses. His niche was building homes and built many. In doing so, he made lots of lasting friendships. J.R. "Jim Bob" was a sports enthusiast and was an avid Houston Astros fan. He enjoyed playing golf with many family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; and grandparents who raised him, Riley and Winnie Herron.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Young of Onalaska, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Joe Bob Jennings of Santa Fe, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Nina and Joe Brinker of Texas City, Texas; grandchildren, Chanelle Christensen of Fort Worth, Texas, Jameson Jennings of Texas City, Texas, Courtney Dobson of Georgetown, Texas, and Kelsey Brinker of Clear Lake, Texas; great granddaughters, Vera Christensen of Fort Worth, Texas and Averie Jennings of Texas City, Texas; sister, Loretta Weddle of Paris, Texas; along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers: Joe Bob Jennings, Joe Brinker, Jameson Jennings, Brad Weddle, Sean Huffman, Dylan Huffman, Zachary Huffman.
