IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Julia Ann
Armitage
February 23, 1941 – March 29, 2021
Graveside services for Julia Ann Armitage, 80, of Livingston, Texas will be held Thursday, April 1, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Peebles Cemetery in Livingston, Texas with Rev. Tim Thompson officiating.
Mrs. Armitage was born February 23, 1941 in Livingston, Texas to parents, Gaston Nelson and Elsie M. (Whitaker) Nelson, and passed away March 29, 2021 in Livingston, Texas. During her life, Mrs. Armitage owned Julia's Boutique and it was "the in place to shop" from 1977-1982. In 1997, she opened The Whistle Stop Café in downtown Livingston. It was named The Whistle Stop because Harry put a sawmill whistle in the top of the restaurant and it would blow at 12:00 p.m. noon every day. Mrs. Armitage was also an avid genealogist alongside her partner, Gale Creel, and a member of the Leggett Baptist Church. In her free time, she loved to cook (her chicken and dressing was the best!) and travel to Europe. She also loved to dress nice and shop. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, James Nelson; and sisters, Barbara Pierce and Kathy Parrish.
She is survived by her husband, Harry Armitage of Livingston; son, David Ray Armitage and wife, Gail of Livingston; daughter, Dee Ann Thompson and husband, Tim of Livingston; granddaughter, Jordy Thompson and boyfriend, Ryan Nelson of Livingston; grandsons, Zach Thompson and wife, Ashton of Livingston, Jon Luke Estes and wife, Kristin of Corpus Christi, and Capt. Brett Estes of West Germany; great-granddaughters, Tommie Jewel Thompson, Cassie Estes, and Marina Estes; brother, Billy Ray Nelson and wife, Margie; and her favorite dog, "R"; along with numerous other family members and a host of friends.
Pallbearers: Zach Thompson, Ryan Nelson, Lonnie Munnerlyn, Brian Hickman, Luther Thompson Jr., Jeremiah Carr
