Obituary

Julian Lamar Clark, Jr., a man of resilience and enduring love, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at his home in Onalaska, Texas after a brief battle with lung cancer.

Born on August 2, 1948, in Monahans, Texas, Lamar was the beloved and cherished son of Julian Lamar Clark, Sr. and Rose Mary Clark. Lamar led a life marked by challenges and triumphs but was dearly and deeply loved by many. He was a proud enrolled member of the Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma.

Lamar grew up in West Texas, graduating in 1966 from Robert E. Lee High School in Midland, Texas. A man of dedication and hard work, Lamar followed in his father's footsteps professionally, working in the oil industry for Vetco Gray for over 35 years. His commitment and expertise earned him respect and admiration from colleagues and peers alike.

After retirement, Lamar and his beloved wife of over 40 years, Peggy, relocated to the lakeside community of Onalaska, Texas. He was preceded in death by Peggy in 2022.

Lamar loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and taking his beloved dog, Angel, for golf cart rides around the lake. The past few years, he was immensely blessed by his loyal circle of friends who stood by him until the end, offering companionship and support during his journey. Lamar took comfort in the joy, warmth and laughter their presence brought to his life. Their shared memories will be treasured in the years to come.

Lamar is survived by his wife of nine months, Jeanette Hughes Clark.

Lamar was a beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He leaves behind four children, son Gary Smith and daughters, Diana Lynette Clark Confer, Candace Janine Clark Romeo (Greg) and Deborah Lynn Smith. He also leaves behind grandchildren, Sage Conger, Sierra Confer, Talon Confer, Jake Smith, Anthony Romeo, Natalie Romeo, Eric Wenner, Angela Goodman, Kenneth Goodman, Anna Goodman, and Elizabeth Wright; and sister, Susan Robertson and husband Robbie of Tomball, Texas; as well as numerous great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Per his wishes, there will be no services at this time. His family asks for prayers and privacy during their time of mourning and remembrance of Lamar. In lieu of flowers or donations, the family requests that those who wish to pay tribute to Lamar do so by extending acts of kindness and compassion to others, reflecting his spirit of generosity and resilience.

Though Lamar may no longer walk among us, his legacy of love and perseverance will continue to inspire all who knew him. May he rest in peace, knowing he was deeply loved and will be fondly remembered by those whose lives he touched.

Romans 8:38-39, NIV

38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[a] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
