June Majors Grimes

JUNE MAJORS GRIMES, 95, was born March 30, 1931, in Jacksonville, Texas, and passed away at her home in Goodrich, Texas, on September 2nd, 2026, surrounded by her loving family as she was welcomed into the arms of Jesus.

June is the youngest of three daughters born to the late Herman E. Majors and Bobbie Frances Arnold Majors; and granddaughter of Wyatt Benjamin and Minnie Ray Gilliland Majors; and William Robert ‘Bob’ and Lula Frances Kirkpatrick Arnold.

Mrs. Grimes was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Minnie Frances ‘Fran’ Majors Hendricks and Margaret Majors Jamail; daughter-in-law, Sharon Burnaman Cox; stepson and wife, Ronald Travis ‘Ron’ and Sharon Sanders Grimes.

June was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, James Trumon ‘JT’ Grimes. June and JT were married on February 4th, 1967, in Livingston, Texas, where they made their home, later moving to Goodrich in about 1981. They were long-time faithful members of the First Baptist Church of Livingston, where they served for many, many years.

She attended Aldine High School in Houston, Texas. June was employed by Jack Mosley Motor Company for eleven years and served as Deputy County Clerk in Polk County for sixteen years. She was a member of the Professional Business Women’s organization in the 1970’s. She retired in the early 1980s. She attended and was a member of First Baptist Church of Livingston for over 70 years, where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, the seasonal Town of Bethlehem, and so much more. There is so much more to her life as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother that cannot be put into words. She was devoted to her husband, children, and grandchildren. June was an exceptional cook and made the best Chocolate Chip cookies, and the cookie jar was always full!

She is survived by her daughter, Donna Cox; sons, Tommy Cox and Judy; Tony Cox and Debbie; and daughter-in-law, Linda Grimes; Grandchildren, Bryan Cox and Samantha, Steven Cox and fiancée, Mirza, Darren Cox and Stormie, Nathan Cox and Alexandra, John Grimes and Catherine, Tracy Pritchard, Tami Page, Teri Dollar, Anthony Cox, Trey Cox and Michelle, Justen Fuller and Margo.

June is also survived by eighteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.

Pallbearers are grandsons Bryan Cox, Steven Cox, Darren Cox, Nathan Cox, Anthony Cox, and Trey Cox.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation from 10 am to noon on Friday, September 11th, 2026, at Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Peebles Cemetery.
