Karlene Dierker Barker was born June 8, 1937 in Columbus, Ohio to parents, Arthur Dierker and Sarah (Shaw) Dierker and passed away on June 30, 2022 in The Woodlands, Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Karlene received a music degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She was a professional organist, pianist, music teacher, and music director for over 60 years. She married Billy Barker in 1969 and raised three children. Karlene dedicated herself to her children and supported their dreams to the fullest. Karlene's passions were for God and God's children. From playing a clown, "Tuff Stuff" for the children's events and church camps, to playing Mrs. Claus with her husband as Santa, she always used her gifts to spread the love of God, and to bring smiles to all children. She was also passionate about inspiring people of any age to give them opportunities to preform music even if they weren't "ready for primetime". She was known for her intense passion, wise and timely words, sarcasm, and wit.
Karlene is survived by her daughters, Amy Barker and husband Rick of Seattle, Washington, Elizabeth Shields of Livingston, Texas; son Will Barker and wife Lia of Humble, Texas; grandchildren, Brenden Shields, Erin Shields, Ryan Shields, Zandra Barker, Amelia Rose Barker; great-granddaughter, Liberty Joy Bell; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
