Funeral services for Kathryn Gene Olivares, 59, of Corrigan, Texas, will be held Friday, May 21, 2021 at 2:00 p.m., in the First Assembly of God Church in Corrigan, Texas with Bro. Phil Corbett officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Springs Cemetery in Corrigan, Texas. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 20, 2021, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., in the First Assembly of God Church in Corrigan, Texas.
Katie was born December 30, 1961 in Hannibal, Missouri, to parents, Jimmie E. Burnett and Mary Yvonne Blevins, and passed away May 17, 2021 in Lufkin, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Katie was a strong, loving, and thoughtful mother, Nana, friend, and nurse. She graduated from Angelina College with an ADN in Nursing in 1992, and was a nurse for 29 years. It was truly her life's calling. She will always be known for the difference she made in the lives of others. Katie inspired all who knew her with dignity and grace.
Katie also loved the Lord and her family. She set an example for her children and grandchildren that will lead them all their lives. She loved Jesus, with all her heart, and she loved God's Word. She was a long time member of the First Assembly of God Church in Corrigan, Texas. Katie was a powerful prayer warrior, and only heaven knows what a wonderful and eternal impact all her many years of faithful praying have had on her family, her friends, and the world.
She is survived by her daughter, Erica Soto and husband Carlos of Moscow, Texas; daughter, Dalia Garcia and husband Jaime of Grapevine, Texas; daughter, Hollie Vera and husband Gerardo of Moscow, Texas; son, Steve Olivares of Moscow, Texas; daughter, Jennifer Olivares of Pasadena, Texas; son, Hugo Vazquez of Arlington, Texas; father of children, Jose Olivares of Moscow, Texas; grandchildren, Natalya, Sebastian, Gabriel, Carlos Jr., Abby, Victoria, Brissa, Landon, and Adelina; brother, Kevin Nolan of Missouri; sister, Monica Deaton of Texas; brother, Donald Kirk of Missouri; and aunt, Sandra Judy Allen of Missouri; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
