Funeral services for Kenneth Paul Bond age 78 of Livingston, Texas will be held Sunday March 13, 2011 at 3:00 PM at the Central Baptist Church in Livingston, Texas with Pastor Randall Whitt officiating and eulogies by Mike Dabney and Garvey Jackson. Interment will follow in the Mt. Rose Cemetery. Visitation is Saturday evening from 5 PM - 9 PM at the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston. Pallbearers are Mike Bond, David Bond, Jimmy Bond, Neal Nettles, Tyler Bond, Huston Bond, Gary Davis, Todd Gardner. Honorary Pallbearers are Lions Club members, Sunday school class and all of his former athletes.
He was born December 10, 1932 in Livingston the son and of Horace Bond and Emma Troy Watts Bond and passed away March 10, 2011 in Lufkin, Texas.
Coach Bond was a graduate of Livingston High school where he excelled in sports. He then attended Allen Academy and the University of Houston and obtained a Masters Degree in education. He served his country in the US Army from 1954-1956 and his family returned to Livingston in 1961 when he joined the Livingston High School staff as a teacher and coach. During his tenure he assisted in all high school sports and later became the Lions head basketball coach. He also served LHS as an assistant principal. After retiring from LISD he became a manager and later partner of Jackson' Hardware and Enterprises. He was also the owner and operator of KVLL radio station in Woodville. He was involved in the Livingston Lions were he served as past president and Masonic Lodge # 14 AF and AM.
Coach Bond is survived by his daughter, Debra Sue Crawford of Texarkana, daughter and son-in-law, Pamela Kay Nettles and Neal Nettles of Livingston, daughter, Keri Lynn Bond of Livingston, son and daughter-in-law, Gene Keith ""Dinky"" Bond and Sandy Bond of Atascocita, son, Kenneth Paul Bond, II of Nacogdoches, brother and sister-in-law, Gene Thomas Bond and Betty Bond, brother and sister-in-law, James Horace Bond and Patsy Bond, sister and brother-in-law, Frances Camp and Harlan Camp of Livingston, 3 grandsons, 7 granddaughters, 1 great grandson, 6 great granddaughters. Numerous other relatives and friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Robbye Lou Alexander Bond whom he married on March 10, 1952. Robbye passed away on August 16, 2010.
