Funeral services for LaMerle Smith, 72, of Groveton, Texas, will be held Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas. Interment will follow in the Peebles Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the service begins at 2:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.

Mrs. Smith was born in LaGrange, Georgia on October 20, 1945, to parents, William Clay and Dorothy (Cardwell) Clay, and passed away on January 2, 2018 in Groveton, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob Smith; and brothers, Alton and Jimmy.

She is survived by her daughter, Amanda Newkham and husband, Mike of College Station, Texas; son, Bobby Grigar and wife, Danette of Livingston, Texas; sister, Lola Bockel and husband, Jim of Lovelady, Texas; grandchildren, Kelsey Sjostrom, Jackson Newkham, Grayson Newkham, Jennifer Uccello, Ryan Sellers, Emily Burch, Brooke Grigar, Bobby Grigar, Meghan Grigar; great-grandchildren, Anna, Sierra, Wyatt, Kayleigh, Kaitlyn, and Paul Jr.; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
