James Larry Sizemore was born on March 19, 1947, in Crockett, Texas, to James Raburn Sizemore and Virgie Helena Baker Sizemore. He passed away on Monday, May 30, 2016, at age 69, at the Houston Hospice in Houston, Texas after a long fight with cancer.
Larry married his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth Joy Duff, on August 13, 1966, in Houston, Texas. After attending one year of college at Pan American University in Edinburg, Texas, Larry went to work for PPG Industries for 33 ½ years, retiring in 2003. He was very involved with his three children's youth activities, which included sports, band, dance and horses. He coached several seasons of baseball with his son Michael, as well as was an announcer when Michael played little league football. He was so proud of his children and was always available when they needed parent volunteers for their activities. He loved to fish and hunt and passed that love on to his children and grandchildren.
His greatest joy the past thirteen years has been to watch his grandsons play baseball all the way from t-ball to high school ball. One of his fondest memories was coaching his oldest grandson's 14U Pony baseball team three years ago along side his son-in-law. They were so proud of coming in 2nd place during the final championship playoffs.
Larry was a member of Uvalde Baptist Church in Houston and was saved at a young age. He helped in the running of a satellite mission church started many years ago. He rejoiced when his children came to know the Lord at a young age.
Preceding Larry in death was his son, James Michael Sizemore in 1984; his parents, James Raburn Sizemore and Virgie Helena Baker Sizemore; his father and mother-in-law, Sam Duff and Muriel Dean Jones Duff.
He is survived by his wife, Joy Sizemore, of Houston; daughter, Dawn Sizemore Earley and husband Frank of League City; daughter Christy Sizemore of Houston; Five precious grandchildren: Zachary Earley, Christopher Byrd, Cole Earley, Kiersten Wood and Ryan Wood; his twin brother Raburn Harry Sizemore and wife Pat of Baytown; brother-in-law Charles Duff and wife Laura of Livingston; and sister-in-law Susan Duff Witte and husband Gary of Livingston; uncle Eurel Baker and wife Dorothy of Houston; aunt Doris Bertone of Caldwell; uncle-in-law Harvey Jones, aunt-in-law Delores Jones Maze and MaryBeth Bailey and husband T.H., all of Livingston.
