Lawrence P. Kelliher was born on April 12, 1935, to parents Harry and Monte Kelliher on Long Island, NY.  He grew up in Great Neck, NY, a suburb of NYC.  He attended Holy Cross College on a full Navy scholarship graduating in 1957 with a bachelor's degree in English and mathematics and was commissioned an Ensign in the Navy.  Lt. Kelliher served as a submarine officer for seven years in New London, CT where he married his wife Joanne and raised three children, Christopher, Mary and Edward.

After naval service Mr. Kelliher joined AT&T in Connecticut and worked in engineering, labor relations, and training for 28 years before taking early retirement to pursue his interest in painting.  He attended Old Lyme Academy of Fine Arts where he polished his abilities in watercolor painting and subsequently won many 1st place awards in competition.

In 2001, he lost his first wife, Joanne, after a prolonged illness and a year later married Maggie Kelliher and spent several years at his summer home in East Orleans. Cape Cod and Myrtle Beach, SC where he enjoyed painting and fishing.

Florida called Larry and Maggie and in 2002 they moved to Englewood, FL on the west coast of Florida where he took classes at Ringling College of Art and taught adult classes in watercolor painting.  Fourteen years later they relocated to Livingston, TX north of Houston where they settled near Maggie's adult children David and Kim Kayser, Mark Kayser, and Mike Kayser.

Larry continued his active painting with his association with the Livingston Art League and continued to spend many summers on Cape Cod. As composed by Lawrence Kelliher.
