Nan Hollingshead

Leatha Nan Hollingshead, affectionately known as Nan, was born May 8, 1936 in Dallas, Texas and passed away in Texas City, Texas on July 19, 2026. She is preceded in death by her mother, Mildred Pauline Bell, her father, Jimmie Lee Jenkins, and stepfather Frank Lee Bell, her husband, Barney Gene Hollingshead, her sons, Vann Keith Cherry of Spring Texas, and Jack Clayton Thomas II of Center, Texas. She is survived by her daughter, Paula Smith and husband, Gary Smith of Wallis, Texas, her son Guy Cherry of Seabrook, Texas, and her daughter, Leatha Moody and husband, David Moody of Montgomery, Texas. She has 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends.

Nan grew up in Goldthwaite, Texas in her adolescent years and Texas City in her high school years. She lived many of her adult years in the Houston area, a short while in Harlingen, Texas, and most of her adult life in Livingston, Texas, where she had many friends. She was a member of Central Baptist Church of Livingston.

She loved music of all types, her dogs, dancing, classic movies were her favorite and she loved reading biographies and autobiographies of classic celebrities. She held various jobs in her later years while living in Livingston. Her last job was helping her husband, Barney Hollingshead, with his skating rink in Livingston. Nan had a great sense of humor and enjoyed playing dominos and scrabble with friends and her husband Barney after he retired. The last 10 years of her life were spent in Seabrook, Texas near her adult children and grandchildren.

She will have a private graveside service at Restland Memorial Park in Goodrich, Texas.
