Buck was born on January 3, 1938, in Livingston, Texas and passed away June 24, 2025, in Livingston. He was preceded in death by his parents, Loyd Johnson and Dolly (Oliver) Johnson; grandsons, Lucas Lauhoff and Michael Jordan; brothers, Byron Johnson, Floyd Johnson, and Sol Johnson; sister, Barbara Jane Gore; father-in-law, Frank Lafferty; and mother-in-law, Bonnie Lafferty.

Buck met Martha Lafferty in April 1958. They got their marriage license on Martha's 18th birthday, May 31st, 1960, and were married on June 4th, 1960. They were married for 65 years on June 4th, 2025.

In September 1961 Buck was drafted into the US Army. He was stationed at Fort Sill in Lawton, OK. While stationed there, Buck and Martha welcomed their first and only child, Marsha, In November of 1962. He always lovingly referred to Marsha as "Little Lee". Buck was honorably discharged in September of 1963. He served the next 5 years in the Army Reserve.

Upon his return home to Livingston, he began his career as a first-class lineman for Sam Houston Electric Coop where he worked for 35 years until his retirement in early 2000.

After his retirement, he spent 5 years training the new lineman for Sam Houston Electric Coop. After this, he was hired as the Safety Manager for Cotton Utilities where he spent the next 5 years.

Buck spent most of his free time with his 4 grandchildren: Tyler, Thomas, Macie, & Lane. He never missed any extracurricular activities they were involved in, and he never missed an opportunity to sit in the deer stand with them. He also never missed an opportunity to help them get into mischief, especially behind Martha's back. In his later years, the 3 great granddaughters: Rylee, Jillian, and Mattie came along. The girls always knew his candy bowl would be full and that he'd be more than willing to share.

He is survived by his loving wife, Martha Johnson of Livingston, Texas; daughter, Marsha Jordan and husband Terry of Livingston, Texas; grandchildren, Tyler Lauhoff, Thomas Lauhoff, Macie Prosperie and husband Robert, Lane Lauhoff, and Emily Lyons and husband Mark; great grandchildren, Rylee Kemp Jordan, Jillian Patschke, and Mattie Lyons; brother, Darrell Johnson and wife Alice; and sister-in-law, Barbara Warner and husband Charles; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
