Obituary

Lena was born on June 4, 1921, in Groesbeck, TX, to parents, W.A. O?ÇÖNeal and Beula Dugan O?ÇÖNeal. She and her family moved to Polk County during her childhood, where she graduated from Livingston High School. Lena married Tommie A. Snell on June 6, 1941, and remained married to him until his death on September 20, 1993. They had one daughter, Wanda Snell Dobson, who died February 16, 1986.

Lena and Tommie made their home in Schwab City. She was a charter member of the Schwab City Baptist Church, which was started in 1948. She and Tommie were a vital part of building the original church building. Lena was a member of the Mary-Martha Sunday School Class, and held the position of Class Secretary for many years. She had been a member of the WOM (Women on Missions) in the church since her retirement from Gilbert Gas and The Credit Bureau, and held the position of secretary for this group as well. She worked as the secretary for the Vacation Bible Schools held at the church, and because of her love for people she took on the burden of mailing Get Well Cards and Sympathy Cards to all of her church members when they were down. Lena served on Various other committees for the church members when they were down. She served on various other committees for the for the church throughout her many years of membership, and did everything she was called upon to do, and did it with all of her heart.

Lena was preceded in death by her parents, W.A. O?ÇÖNeal and Beula Dugan O?ÇÖNeal; husband, Tommie A. Snell; daughter, Wanda Snell Dobson; sisters, Leta O?ÇÖNeal Murphy and Willie Mae O?ÇÖNeal Taylor; and brothers, Johnny O?ÇÖNeal, Joe O?ÇÖNeal and George O?ÇÖNeal. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Dick Taylor; sisters-in-law, Thelma O?ÇÖNeal and Billie Marie O?ÇÖNeal, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

Lena passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at her home in Livingston. She had a great love for her family and friends, and she will be greatly missed by all.

There will be a visitation for Lena beginning at 3:00 on Sunday, April1, 2012 at Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 2, 2012, at Cochran Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. David Jones will conduct the services. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park in Livingston. Pallbearers are: Seth Crawford, Stephen Crawford, Bubba Smith, Billy O?ÇÿNeal, Keith O?ÇÖNeal and Chad Tywater. Honorary pallbearers are: Dicky Batten; Robert Crawford, Charlie Odom, Chuck Odom, Dicky O?ÇÖNeal, John Michael O?ÇÖNeal, Zee Thornton, Larry O?ÇÖNeal Don O?ÇÖBerg, James Snell, Jim Snell, Randy Snell, Thomas Snell, Ronnie Taylor, Olan Tomme and James Tywater. The family makes special recognition of the members of the Schwab City Baptist Church.
