Lewis Lincoln "Link" Davis, Jr., 75, was born in Port Arthur, Texas in 1947. The son of Link Davis, Sr., a musician and songwriter, whose footsteps he followed closely.

He grew up on Houston's north side, attending Sam Houston High School before touring with his father's band. He played saxophone alongside the "Big Mamou" songster. His musical skills got him jobs with Doug Sahm, Melissa Manchester, Emmy Lou Harns, and many others, before joining the western swing band, Asleep at the Wheel, who he toured with in Europe and the United States. He also won a Grammy as a member of the band for Best Group Performance.

After leaving the Wheel, Link continued on to play the French accordion while being mentored by the famous Louisiana artist, Nathan Abshire. He later formed the group, Sons of the Cajun Crawdaddy and performed at the New Orleans Jazz Fest several times. He loved music and was so talented, he could play almost any instrument, including saxophone, fiddle, guitar, bass, drums, piano, banjo, and even a cello. He had a recording studio and produced music for many local musicians. By all counts, he was a musician extraordinaire.

He eventually moved to Indian Springs to be close to family and resided there until his death. He is preceded by his father, Lewis Lincoln "Link" Davis, Sr.; mother, Doris Rita Beadle; and brothers, Michael Davis and Rickey Davis.

He is survived by his daughter, Hanna Davis of Livingston, Texas; son, Robert Davis and wife Sarah of Conroe, Texas; daughter, Lucretia Krenzke and husband Bryan of Humble, Texas; sisters, Lana Graves and husband Johnny of Spanish Fort, Alabama and Judy Bradley and husband Mark of Colleyville, Texas; and 8 grandchildren; as well as numerous other loved ones and friends.
