Lloyd Benifield Abbey was born on August 17, 1947 in Livingston, Texas. He passed away on April 15, 2013, in Alexandria, Louisiana. He is preceded in death by mother, Emily Abbey; brothers, Bruce Abbey and Tom John; son, Gervin Polite; granddaughter, Priscilla Lawson; and great-nephew, Jeremy Battise.

Lloyd leaves behind wife, Maudine Abbey, of Oberlin, Louisiana; son and daughter-in-law, Cedric Polite and LeeAnn Comanche, of Oberlin, Louisiana; grandson, Lendrick Polite, of Oberlin, Louisiana; granddaughters, Selynn Polite of Oberlin, Louisiana, and Tessah Tipton, of Livingston, Texas; brothers-in-law, Elvis Battise, of Livingston, Texas, Harold John, and Greggory John; sisters-in-law, Jerilyn Mullins and Diane Battise, of Livingston, Texas, Lizzie John, and Marsha Carrasco; nieces and nephews, Monae and Bruce Battise Sr., Monique Hernandez, Ray Battise, Dwayne Battise, John and Angie Battise, Wilson Battise-Mullins, Chantell Battise, Shakyla Battise, Bruce Battise Jr., Leila Battise, Alicea Battise, Sofia Battise, Hayden Battise, Kade Battise, Lenai Battise, Liam Battise, Izabella Robinson, Tairia Robinson, Jayden Battise, Ronnie and Olivia Abbey, Elliott Abbey, Tyler Abbey, Kara and Darrell Battise, Emily Battise, Kierston Battise, Katlyn Battise, all of Livingston, Texas, Aron and Kaye Abbey, Aron Bruce Abbey, Eric Abbey, Donavon Abbey of Dickinson, North Dakota, Karrie and Josh Fasthorse, of New Town, North Dakota, Jeffrey Williams, Danny and Jean Willians, of Livingston, Texas and Teresa and Don McKinney. Lloyd will be escorted to his grave by pallbearers, Kyle Williams, Kerwin Williams, Mykiah Williams, Kheshun Williams, Aron Bruce Abbey, Bruce Battise, Darrell Battise, and Graywolf John..

Lloyd was a member of the Coushatta tribe of Elton, Louisiana. Prior to moving to Louisiana, Lloyd worked for Ronnie Lowe of Livingston, Texas, surveying and mapping. He was an employee of the Coushatta Resort and Casino in Kinder, Louisiana, where he started out in maintenance and worked his way up to Chief Inspector. Lloyd was a proud Vietnam Veteran of the United States Marine Corp. Lloyd will be truly missed.

Services for Lloyd B. Abbey were held Friday, April 19, 2013, at 11:00 AM, First Texas Indian Baptist Church in Livingston, Texas. Rev. Jeffrey Williams, Rev. Chris Skeet, and Pastor Aubrey Vaughn, officiated the service. Interment followed at First Texas Indian Baptist Church Cemetery. Military honors were provided by U.S. Marine Corps.

Visitation and a wake service were held Thursday, April 18, 2013, at 6:00 PM, at Cochran Funeral Home, in Livingston, Texas.
