Graveside services for Lois Kearse Lively, 88, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Livingston, Texas with Jason Bay officiating. A reception will be held following the service at the Baker Ranch in Livingston, Texas and the family would like to invite everyone to the reception as well as to the graveside service.
Lois was the daughter of George P. Kearse and Jimmye Farris of Walker County. Loisís parents were notable ranchers & cotton farmers in Walker County. She was the granddaughter of William and Nettie Powell Kearse, who had a wagon freight service that moved cargo from Walker County to El Paso. She was the great granddaughter of George and Elizabeth Lightsey Kearse who moved from South Carolina to Walker County in 1859. On her motherís side, Lois was a great great granddaughter of Hezekiah Faris from Tenessee who fought in the Battle of San Jacinto with General Sam Houston where Texas prevailed over Mexico and gained independence as a sovereign nation. According to family legend, Hezekiah Faris held the horses for the men that ultimately captured General Santa Ana. Lois grew up with her sister Georgie, who was several years older. Many fun times were had with cousins and friends on the Kearse Ranch. Lois loved horses and rode quite well. Through the years, Lois enjoyed her many friends. She was a beautiful lady known for her hospitality and her wonderful southern accent. Lois was a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Lois was an avid bridge player and a local champion during her prime years and was considered by many to have an extraordinary memory. She was a licensed decorator and practiced this occupation for many years. She loved her work and enjoyed the relationship with her clients. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mrs. Lively was born January 22, 1930 in Huntsville, Texas, and passed away June 20, 2018 in Houston, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, B.C. Lively; and sister, Georgie Rawson.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Brock and Gloria Lively of Pembroke Pines, Florida; grandson and wife, Robert and Nadine Foist of Anacortes, Washington; granddaughter and husband, Gloria Maria and Dean Pugh of Tallahassee, Florida; granddaughter and husband, Leonor and Laird Duncan of Wenham, Massachusetts; great granddaughter, Sophia Gloria Duncan of Wenham, Massachusetts; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
