Obituary
Funeral services for Lorene "Skeets" Matthews Stuckey, 91, of Livingston, Texas will be held Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. in the Jones Prairie Baptist Church in Leggett, Texas with Bro. Dean Boyd and Bro. Glen Price officiating. Interment will follow in the Jones Prairie Cemetery in Leggett, Texas.
Mrs. Stuckey was born on September 28, 1924, to parents Barney Matthews and Mae (Martone) Matthews in Leggett, Texas. She passed away on February 20, 2016 in Livingston, Texas.
Lorene was raised in Leggett and graduated from Leggett High School in May 1942. On November 2, 1942, she married Raymond Stuckey, and in 1946, the welcomed their only child, Lorena Mae. Lorene was a homemaker and an excellent seamstress. In 1982, Raymond and Lorene retired from Houston and returned to Leggett. She was an active member of Jones Prairie Baptist Church in Leggett. She resided in her home until March 2014 when she moved to Tall Pines Assisted Livingston in Livingston.
Lorene was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
She is survived by her daughter, Lorena Mae Johnson of Livingston; granddaughters, Melisa (Missy) Chapman and husband, Beauford of Bedias, Mary Beth Ledet and husband, Todd of Charlotte, North Carolina; great-grandchildren, Alyssa Chapman, Adriana Chapman, Conner Ledet and Cristen Ledet. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Barbara Stuckey of Livingston and Helen Stuckey of Latexo; along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Jones Prairie Baptist Church, PO Box 117, Leggett, Texas 77350 or to the Jones Prairie Cemetery Association, PO Box 97, Leggett, Texas 77350.
