Luther Ray Haire was born April 24, 1919, in Pelican, LA, to Edgar and Emma Haire, the middle son of seven boys (Truman, Braxton, Hub, Ray, Leo, Cecil ""Cat"", and Jesse). He passed away in Kingwood, TX on December 28, 2011, after a long battle with Alzheimer'.
Ray served in the Navy in the South Pacific during WWII from 1942 to 1945, earning an honorable discharge. He worked as a machinist for National Biscuit Co. in Chicago (NABISCO), relocating to Texas City, TX in 1952 to find a career as a chemical plant operator for Union Carbide. He retired as a Chief Operator in 1982.
Ray married Kathryn ""Kitty"" Fox on February 4, 1966, and adopted her son Jack as well.
Ray was a wonderful Christian husband and father, who enjoyed camping, gardening, backyard grilling and fishing. He loved his family, and the Lord, and served in his local churches wherever they lived.
He and Kitty enjoyed their retirement years with numerous extended trips in their RV, along with frequent trips to just walk the beach in Galveston.
Ray is survived by his wife Kitty, son, Jack and wife, Kitty Haire, and grandson, Trent Haire of Livingston; one surviving brother, Jewel Jesse Haire and wife, Dot of San Diego, Calif., along with numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
Kitty, Jack, Kerry and Trent especially want to thank the management and staff of Silverado Living Kingwood, for their love and compassionate care for Ray during his almost eight years there. They were and are a true blessing to Ray and the family.
