Obituary

Marabeth (Beth) Seymour Whitten was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1944. She joined our Heavenly Father on March 16, 2023, where she passed away peacefully at her home in Ennis, Texas. Beth was born at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston, Texas, and attended elementary and junior high school in Livingston, Texas. She married her childhood sweetheart, Buddy Whitten, on August 21, 1960. Beth spoke proudly that her 6 children, 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren were the greatest accomplishments of her life here on earth.

Beth had many hobbies; she spent countless hours putting puzzles together, painting beautiful oil paintings, knitting, and crocheting. She loved making crocheted gifts for family and friends. Dinosaurs, ninja turtle beanies, ballerina blankets, infant hats and booties, and numerous other crocheted items were made with love. Beth devoted her time crocheting infant hats for the NICU patients at Children's Health knowing that she was making a difference in their lives. Beth loved listening to music and her favorite song was Shallow Water by Randy Travis.

Beth believed in the power of prayer and had an active prayer list near her at all times. She ensured that if you needed prayer, she was praying daily until it was time to mark your name off her prayer list. She called Grace Temple Baptist Church and her fellow members, her church family. She was dedicated to watching church service virtually every week and was an active participant on the live stream.

With broken, but grateful hearts, she has gone to be with Jesus. We can only imagine her excitement when she saw the splendor of Heaven and met Jesus face to face. There was a great reunion in Heaven with her parents, her siblings, her daughter Irene, and countless family and friends that have gone before her.

Beth is survived by her husband, Buddy Whitten; children Linda Ewing (Eddie) of Hutchins, Texas, Charles Whitten (Elizabeth) of Porter, Texas, Judy Rollins (Terry) of Shephard, Texas, Bobby Whitten (Unmi) of Plano Texas, and Diana Tullos (Rodger) of Rochester, New Hampshire; grandchildren Kathy Malena (Jason), Jennifer Krnavek (Shay), Doug Malena (Haley), Shey Harrison, Charles Whitten III (Keirsten), Ricky Wilson, Chris Wilson (Amy), Robert Wilson, Janice Higgins (Michael), Ashley Whitten, Bianca Whitten, Curtis Anders (Chelsea), and Travis Anders (Brittany); great-grandchildren Ryan Saldana (Fernanda), Lauren Warren (Steven), Thomas Brady, Dylan Crow, Emma Crow, Marissa Krnavek, Penny Krnavek, Benji Malena, Beck Malena, Ava Wadford, Mia Whitten, Colt Anders, Baileigh Wilson, Brayden Cossey, Ariana Wilson, Emily Wilson, Layla Whitten, and baby Charlie; great-great grandchildren Mason Miranda, Kayden Warren, McKinlee Warren, Maddyn Warren, and Maddox Warren.

Beth leaves behind great friends that have been wonderful to her through many chapters of her life. Her dear neighbors were her family - Janette, Karen, Lori, and Minnie. She will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved her.

It was Beth's decision that the family privately celebrate her new life in Heaven and not mourn her death. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Beth's church family: Grace Temple Baptist Church 509 E. Brown Street, Ennis, Texas 75119
