Funeral services for Marcus Durward "Smokey" Wells, 90, of Point Blank, Texas, will be held Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Onalaska, Texas with David Branson officiating. Interment will follow in the Center Hill Cemetery in Oakhurst, Texas where Marine Honors will be provided. Visitation will be held Saturday, March 15, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., before the service, in the Cochran Funeral Home in Onalaska, Texas.

Mr. Wells was born on July 28, 1923 in Broaddus, Texas to parents, Marion Marcus Wells and Desseye Mae (Harvey) Wells, and passed away on March 7, 2014 in Huntsville, Texas. He was a member of the VFW Post #1839 in Cleveland, Texas and the VFW Post # 4378 in Point Blank, Texas and was also a member of the Retired Officers Association. He proudly served his country and retired from the United States Marine Corp. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marjorie "Peggy" Wells; and brother, Emmitt Donald Wells.

He is survived by his daughters, Deanna McMahan and husband Charles of Point Blank, Texas and Anita Wells of Houston, Texas; sister, Elva Jean Ellis and husband Robert of West Columbia, Texas; grandchildren, Charlie McMahan and Carla Cook; six great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Bertha Wells of Lake Jackson, Texas; and numerous other relatives and friends.
