Obituary

Marilyn Elliott Kidd 92 of Livingston, TX died peacefully in her sleep January 27, 2023.

Marilyn was born in Houston, Texas on August 1, 1930, to Jacob (Jake) and Augusta (Gussie) Wareham.  Marilyn attended Milby High School, and later Francis T Nichols College where she was invited to join Phi Beta Kappa.  At age 56, she began attending Angelina Junior College where she earned a degree in nursing.   After working mostly as a registered nurse in the psychiatry units of several hospitals she landed a job as a school nurse where she worked until retirement. Marilyn believed that there was more to healing than conventional medicine and dedicated the rest of her life to finding a better way, be it physical, metaphysical, or mental.  She attended hundreds of seminars dealing with everything from spiritual healing to nutrition and mental health.  She became licensed and practiced "Healing Touch" along with other holistic methods.

In 1949 Marilyn was married to T.W. (Sam) Elliott.  They raised one son and three daughters.  Later she fell in love with and married Louis Kidd in 1996. Lou was the true love of her life, and the only man that understood the complexity of her being and the only man strong enough not to be threatened by the strength of her character, a match truly blessed.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Leslie Wareham.

She left this world survived by her husband, Louis Kidd of Goodrich, Texas; her four children, son, Michael (Mickey) Elliott & wife Mary of New Braunfels, daughters, Carole Futch & husband Lenon of New Braunfels, Angela Dominy & husband Mike of Livingston,  Paula Estefan & husband Ron of Houston, six grandchildren, Jennifer Money & husband Billy, Ashley Tomisini & husband Von, Jake Dominy & wife Amber, Chris Dominy, Zach and Blake Estefan, nine great grandchildren, special friends, Henrietta Norman of Livingston and David Yeoward of Cottage Grove OR, and numerous relatives and friends.

Marilyn's house had an open-door. She was always available to teach, counsel, commiserate, or just hug anyone that came through the door. There are many of us that can directly relate our sanity and success to her calm soothing nature and wisdom.  She could always analyze the issue and give us directions to find the path to happiness ourselves. She was a giant!

Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 4 th at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston. Continued fellowship and a meal will immediately follow at St. Luke's Episcopal Church Parrish Hall, 836 W. Jones St, Livingston TX 77351.
