Marilyn Pritchard Sutton was born October 16, 1951 to Frank and Edith Pritchard in Dallas, Texas. After a fight for many years with cancer Marilyn passed away peacefully at her home in Livingston, Texas on March 12, 2017. She is survived by her husband, Johnny Sutton; son, Mark Sutton; daughter-in-law, Megan Durell Sutton, and cousin, Leigh Ann Adams Murchison of Dallas, Texas. She attended Stephen F. Austin State University and received a degree in elementary education in 1973. She married her husband of over 44 years Johnny Sutton, in 1972. With Johnny having found employment in Livingston, Texas, they moved to Livingston in 1973. Marilyn began work for the City of Livingston in 1974 and remained employed with the City of Livingston until her passing. She served the City of Livingston faithfully for 42 years.

Marilyn began clerical work for the City of Livingston in 1974 and soon moved to accounts payable and payroll clerk. She was appointed assistant city secretary in 1977. In 1985 she was appointed city secretary and finance officer. She was elected by the Livingston City Council as City Manager in 2005 and served as such until her death. She was appointed by the City Council of Livingston to serve on the Sam Rayburn Municipal Power Agency in 2005. She was elected by the Power Agency board of directors to preside as president of the board and served as such until her death. Marilyn through the years has served on numerous boards and chambers all with the goal of making the quality of life better for the citizens of the City of Livingston and Polk County.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society Research Department or to the Livingston Relay For Life.
