Dr. Bishop was born February 14, 1929 in Dallas, Texas to parents, Raymond Elberta Bishop and Marion Hazel (Payne) Bishop, and passed away July 10, 2021 in Livingston, Texas. During his life, Dr. Bishop graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1945 at the age of 16. He continued his education at the University of Houston where he graduated with a Bachelors and got his doctorate in psychology from the University of Texas at Austin. After graduating, Dr. Bishop spent most of his career working as a psychologist with the Veteran's Hospital in Houston where he ran the Day Treatment Center. He valued education, and hard work, but most of all his family. Dr. and Mrs. Bishop enjoyed a 30 year retirement full of train travel, cruising and car trips across America. In his later years, his favorite pastime was watching the sunset across the lake. As the sun has set on his earthly life, we know the Lord has said, "Well Done, Thou good and faithful servant. Enter now into the joy of the Lord." He is preceded in death by his parents; and sons, Barry Michael Bishop and Bruce Kevin Bishop.
He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Juatassa Bishop; daughter, Tracy Osborn and husband, Robin; son, Brian Bishop and wife, Tricia; daughter-in-law, Cindy Bishop; sister, Jo Elon Davis; as well as 11 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; along with numerous other family members, and a host of friends.
Pallbearers: Brandon Osborn, Kevin Osborn, Chad Crawley, Trenton Bishop, Nic Seidler, Brandon McGraw
