Interment will follow in the Holhausen-Darby Cemetery Moscow, Texas. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 4, 2018, from 12:00 p.m. until service time, in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.

Martha Sharon (Dorrell) Stubbs was born on November 30, 1941 in Houston, Texas and passed away on February 28, 2018 in Conroe, Texas.

Martha married the love of her life, John Clinton Stubbs on May 25, 1963 in Pasadena, Texas, and was a loving and devoted spouse to him for 37 years until his death in 2001.

She is also preceded in death by her parents, Guy F. and Selma (Griffin) Dorrell.

Martha is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Youngblood and Tom of Livingston, Texas; son, Ryan Stubbs and Cecile of Dhahran, Saudi Arabia; grandsons, Scott Youngblood of Vidor, Texas, Logan Youngblood of Livingston, Texas and "adopted" grandson, Jonathan Nickels, Jr. of Livingston, Texas; brothers, Dr. Tommy Dorrell and Bea of Bracketville, Texas and Don Dorrell of Mackey, Idaho; sister, Beth Dorrell of Livingston, Texas; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim Stubbs and Barbara of West Columbia, Texas, Betty Haven of Dallas, Texas, Dorothy Stubbs of Waco, Texas, Robert Gohlke and Sarah of Gatesville, Texas; god-daughters, Donns Soria and Mary Makemson; special friend and companion Paulette Byrd of Sanford, Michigan; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

She was a kindergarten teacher, and taught piano and voice lessons for many years. She was also very active as Director of her church choir, leading the annual Easter cantata and other musical events. In addition, she was the owner of several gift and antique shops, having a special talent for floral arrangements and interior design. Martha was also a successful businesswoman who managed several other businesses.

Her most important job of all was that of mother to Rhonda and Ryan, and "Mimi", as the loving grandmother of Scott and Logan Youngblood, and her "adopted" grandson, Jonathan Nickels, Jr. She dearly loved her son-in-law Tom and daughter-in-law Cecile and treasured family times with them. She loved her brothers and sister, and so enjoyed visits with all of them. She served as a special caregiver to her beloved sister Tootsie at The Gardens in Livingston, Texas.

She loved to laugh and have a good time, and had a dear circle of friends in Livingston, the "Gutsy Gals" whom she played Bunco with, and she was a devoted friend to them.

Martha loved to travel and saw the world with her dear friend Paulette Byrd. Together, they laughed and strolled their way through many countries.

She was an inspiration to many people, but most of the recipients of her kindness are unknown as she had a habit of giving anonymously, never wanting recognition for her deeds. So many people have come up to her family in the past week to say "She helped me so much in my time of need."   In this, she lived her Christian faith and was always willing to help those who suffered.

She grew up as a Baptist and accepted Jesus Christ as a young girl. Upon her marriage she became a Lutheran and raised her children in the Lutheran faith. In the last years of her life, she worshipped Christ as a Methodist and loved her church family at Bible Memorial Methodist Church in Moscow, Texas.

The light of Martha's life were her children and especially her grandchildren. She was there for everything they ever did, encouraging them and giving her best to them, and they will greatly miss her.

Martha Stubbs will be escorted to her grave by pallbearers: Tom Youngblood, Scott Youngblood, Logan Youngblood, Jonathan Nickels, Jr., Donald Dorrell, Jr., and Barry Stubbs.

Honorary Pallbearers: Billy Adams, Mike Adams, Tommy Dorrell and Don Dorrell.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231.
