Funeral services for Edgar Marvin Taylor, 83, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Beech Creek Assembly of God Church in Livingston, Texas with Pastor Don Goodwin officiating. Interment will follow at the Camp Ruby Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 7, 2021, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m., at the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.

Marvin was born June 18, 1938 to parents John Wesley Taylor and Lois Lucille Moore Taylor and passed away September 2, 2021 in Houston, Texas.  He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Terry, Sidney and Oran; sisters, Patsy, Tina Cleona.

Marvin graduated Class of 1959 from Goodrich High School.  On March 15, 1963, he married his loving wife, Laverne of 58 years.

He was employed by Sam Houston Electric Co-op for 20 years and Trinity River Authority for 25 years where he retired in 2010.  For the past 11 years he has worked at Cochran Funeral Home.

Marvin served Polk County for 24 years as Constable Precinct 4.  He was a member of the Polk County Youth Rodeo Association and the Houston Livestock Show Committee for many years.

Marvin was an avid runner and took great pride in completing three marathons, after he started running at the age of 53.

Marvin has attended Beech Creek Assembly of God Church for the past 58 years

Marvin Taylor is survived by his wife, Laverne Whisenhant Taylor; son, Mark and wife, Julye, son Mike and wife, Diana; daughter, Amy and husband, Jason; granddaughter, Macye and husband, Jared, granddaughter, Magen and husband, Coy; great-grandchildren, Jace, Mady and Easton; brothers, Kelton and wife, Carolyn, Tony and wife, Marilyn; sisters, Sophronia, Savannah and husband, Tommy, Dot and husband, Harold, Linda and husband, Joe; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

In leiu of flowers, donations may be made to Beech Creek Assembly of God Building Fund.
