Obituary
Funeral services for Mary Abbie Smith, 82, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Monday, May 8, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. in the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Livingston, Texas with Father Tarsisius Puling, SVD officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Rose Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 7, 2017 with the Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m., in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.
Mrs. Smith was born April 19, 1935 in Nacogdoches, Texas to parents, William Alonzo Flores and Mary Christine (Pena) Flores, and passed away on May 3, 2017 in Livingston, Texas. During her life, she was a founding member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was also a founding member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court #2487. She was an active member until her health declined. Abbie will be remembered as a loving mother, wife, and grandmother. She was always ready to listen, but never dwelt on her own conditions. She is preceded in death by her parents; and granddaughter, Amanda Elizabeth Smith.
She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years and 5 months, John Charlie Smith Sr. of Livingston; daughter, Sharon Choens and husband, Robert of Houston; daughter, Dr. Charlene Smith and husband, Thomas of Livingston; daughter, Christine Teel and husband, Dwayne of Livingston; son, John Charlie Smith Jr. and wife, Mabelle of Livingston; son, Mark David Smith Sr. and wife, Crystal of Livingston; grandchildren, Mark David Smith Jr. and wife, Melissa, Dr. Stacy Victoria Smith-Haynes and husband, Joseph, Dr. Robert Charles Choens II and wife, Megan, Trenton W. Smith, Dalton Smith and wife, Rachel, Kevin Smith, Dana Smith, Orren Smith, Kelci Teel, and Jacob Cheney; step-great-grandchildren, Esaias Cheney, Mason Smith, and Brantley Smith; sisters, Inez Smith of Round Rock, and Marie Hancock of Nacogdoches; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
A very special thanks to her caregivers – The Wright sisters, A Plus Sitting Service and First In Care Home Health as well as her physicians.
