Obituary

Funeral services for Mary Bailey Nettles, 85, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Sunday, February 26, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church in Livingston, Texas with Rev. Steve Woody, Bro. Wayne Bickley, and Rev. James Frazier officiating. Interment will follow in the Peebles Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2017 in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.

Mrs. Nettles was born May 1, 1931 in Washington, Georgia on a share cropper farm to parents, William Bailey and Bertha Mae (Turner) Bailey, and passed away on February 23, 2017 in Livingston, Texas. Mary was one of the only 15 children to graduate from high school. Her mother passed away when Mary was only 9 years old. Her father kept all of the children together until his death in 1949. Mary came to Texas along with her youngest brother, Gene, in about 1950 to live with their older sister, Louise. Mary and all of her siblings were raised in the Smyrna United Methodist Church in Washington, Georgia. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Alvis Nettles, grandson, Robert Rowe Bailey; brothers, William Allen Bailey, Joe Sanders Bailey, Marvin Bailey, Quincy W. Bailey, Edward Baxter Bailey, James Herbert Bailey, Holbrook Eujan Bailey, and George Richard Bailey; sisters, Minnie Elizabeth Bailey Flurry, Nancy Marcia Bailey Weaver, Hattie Louise Bailey, and Fannie Leona Bailey Bussey.

She is survived by her daughters, Arlene Richardson and husband, John of Livingston, Texas, and Elaine Minter and husband, Jerry of Chester, Texas; son, Mike Nettles and wife, Timber of Livingston, Texas; grandchildren, Jamie Jones and husband, Mark, Jeremy Richardson, Jana Starr, Rachel Arbuckle and husband, Chad, Monica Gunter, Craig Nettles and wife, Kyla, and Kevin Nettles; great-grandchildren, Cole Jones, Trent Jones, Riley Richardson, Ryan Richardson, Connor Starr, Kaleigh Starr, Jett Arbuckle, Kort Arbuckle, Reid Arbuckle, Sara Gunter, Kade Nettles, and Emma Nettles; and brothers, Leon Bailey and wife, Georgia of Livingston, Texas and Oscar Eugene Bailey and wife, Mary of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
