Maurine VanMeter, known by her loved ones as Granny, passed away peacefully on February 28th, 2023.  She was one of two children born to Carl and Myrtle Butler of Pasadena, Texas on November 30, 1932.

Maurine was a beloved member of her community and will be remembered for her kindness and generosity. She was a devoted wife to her husband Cylde VanMeter for 60 years and a loving mother to her children Donald and Sherry. Her love for her family was unparalleled, and she spent countless hours creating memories with her children and grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her husband Clyde VanMeter of Livingston, son Donald Wayne VanMeter of Pasadena, parents Carl and Myrtle Butler of Pasadena, and brother, Harlan Wayne Butler of Alvin.

Granny will be deeply missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Sherry Lynn & John Walton of Houston. Her grandchildren: James Harrison of Friendswood, Jason Walton & Rosanna Flouty of New York, and Kyle & Monica Walton of Houston. Her great-grandchildren: Sophia Walton, Jasper Walton, and Adeline Walton.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the entire Methodist Hospital staff at Dunn tower east 8th floor for their compassionate care during Maurine's final days.

Granny will be forever remembered and cherished by her family and friends.
