Maxine Mangrum, age 85, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 8 ^th , 2022.  She was born on October 25 ^th , 1936 to Jesse and Doris Nye.  She grew up in the Pasadena area and graduated from Pasadena High School.  She became an LVN and worked in the Livingston area both at the local hospital as well as working for Dr. Carlos Llanes.  She met the love of her life, Henry Mangrum, and together they raised 5 boys while Henry served in the U.S. Navy.  The family lived in both Hawaii and Virginia during Henry's duty tours but then settled down and made a home in Livingston, TX.

What she truly enjoyed and cherished was the time she spent fishing with her husband Henry.      Maxine and Henry would fish almost every weekend, often with their sons in Galveston Bay.

She loved to spend time cooking and baking for her family.  Christmas time was her favorite for baking and candy making.  She was an avid quilter, making quilts for her family which she was the most proud of and was a longtime member of the Livingston Piecemakers Quilt Guild.  She also became a rather skilled bowler and enjoyed traveling the country with her friends in bowling tournaments.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Henry Mangrum as well as Robert Nye (brother), David Giese (son), Ricky Alan Giese (grandson) and Catherine Giese (daughter-in-law).

Maxine is survived by her sons, John Giese (Gayla), William Giese (Karen), Richard Giese (Sharlet) and Jack Mangrum (Dawn).  She was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren:  William Giese Jr, Michael Giese, Jessica Rodriguez, Katie Giese, Neil Giese, Ashley Blaydes, Caitlin Mangrum, Shelby Mangrum, David Giese, Steven Giese, Richard Giese, Caitlin Giese, Nathan Giese, Henry Giese, Trey Giese, Abigail Villanueva, David Villanueva,  Xaidan Giese, Leo Giese, Axel Giese, Addie Giese, Joshua Giese, Mavis Giese and Chevelle Blaydes.

A memorial service will be held at Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, TX on Saturday, July 23 ^rd at 10:00am.
