Obituary

Graveside services for Mazell Ashlock Schanfish, 89, of Livingston, Texas will be held Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. in the Oats Cemetery in Leggett, Texas.

Mrs. Schanfish was born on August 25, 1926 in Valiant, Oklahoma to parents, Clyde David Ashlock and Annie Elizabeth (Evans) Ashlock and passed away in her home on February 24, 2016 in Livingston, Texas. During her life, she lived in Livingston for more than 50 years. Mazell was affectionately known as "Ma" and loved cooking, quilting, playing bingo and being with her family.  She spent many hours entertaining and loving on her many grandchildren, teaching nearly all of them to shell peas, tend her garden or help with the chickens.  As the wife of a logger and a mother of seven, she lived a very full life.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ada Boggs; and brothers, Mid David Ashlock, Larence Lee Ashlock and CD Ashlock.

She is survived by her husband, J.L. Schanfish of Livingston, Texas; son, Jerry Leon Schanfish of Apple Springs, Texas; daughters, Linda Ponder and husband, Ronald of Lake Jackson, Texas, Wanda Basham and husband, Gary of Livingston, Texas, Betty Bagley of Livingston, Texas, and Ann Jones and husband, John of Livingston, Texas; son, Danny Schanfish of Livingston, Texas; daughter, Donna Meadows and husband, Wiley of Leggett, Texas; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
