Funeral services for Melena Evaline Burress, 89, of Livingston, Texas will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 4, 2017 in Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas with Bro. Rex Hendrix officiating. Interment will be follow in the Big Sandy Cemetery in Big Sandy, Texas. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the service begins on Monday, December 4, 2017 in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.

Mrs. Burress was born on August 17, 1928 in Rye, Texas to parents, Elijah Pate Moore and Nancy Celester (Cox) Moore, and passed away on December 1, 2017 in Livingston, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas Wesley Burress; sisters, Margie Jones, Johnnie Bee Raborn, and Annie Redd; and brothers, O.P Moore and Elmer Moore.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Laddis and Dean Thompson of Livingston, Texas; daughter, Teresa Burress of Huntsville, Texas; grandson, Brent Thompson of Livingston, Texas; sister, Bonnie Robinson of Shelbyville, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Dorothy Moore of Cleveland, Texas; sister-in-law, Yvonne Moore of Big Sandy, Texas; and brother-in-law, Bill Raborn of Shelbyville, Texas; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Livingston Building Fund.
