Funeral services for Melody Dawn Heflin, 41, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Saturday, July 30, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas. Interment will follow in the Jones Prairie Cemetery in Leggett, Texas. Visitation will be held Friday, July 29, 2022, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m., in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.

Melody was born December 19, 1980 in Torrence, California to parents, Walter Heflin and Dorothy (McBride) Heflin, and passed away July 19, 2022 at her home in Livingston, Texas.

Melody had a huge personality. When she was mad she was like a thundercloud. Everyone around could hear her grumbling. But when she was happy, you could see it all over. Her sparkling blue eyes and her smile could light up a room.

She loved her daughter more than anything in the world. It was always like they were taking on the world together. She loved to garden. It didn't matter what she planted as long as she could watch it grow. She was a member of the Southeast Texas Plant exchange group and loved sharing plants and any new idea she had with her friends in this group.

Melody is preceded in death by her grandparents, aunt and brother.

She is survived by her daughter, Kaylen Heflin; parents, Walter and Dorothy Heflin; brother, Jeremy Heflin and wife Angela; sisters, Nona McBride, Leanne Ferguson, and Jodi Heflin; nephews, Joshua Steinhardt, Mark Steinhardt, Jeremy Heflin Jr., Dustin Heflin, Nathan Ferguson, Noah Ford and Josen Ford; nieces, Freedom-Faith Nichols, Trisha Heflin, and Emalyn Ford; aunts, Martha Reider, Myrna Harrington and husband Raymond, Malia Guest and husband Ernest; along with 10 cousins, and numerous other relative and friends.
