Melvin Barnes, age 70, of Livingston, Texas, passed away on December 15, 2012, in Livingston, Texas. Melvin was born on June 2, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan, to parents, Leroy and Eddie Bell Yelder Barnes.
Melvin is preceded in death by both of his parents; and two brothers, David Rue and Lucious Rue. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Barnes, of Livingston, Texas; daughter, Cynthia Hardiman, of Detroit, Michigan; daughter and son-in-law, Melvyna and Terry Allison, of Livingston, Texas; daughter, Kymberly Wiley, of Kansas City, Missouri; daughter, Rena Toney, of Detroit, Michigan; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Elcock and Lionel, of Detroit, Michigan; son, Travia Davis, of Livingston, Texas; son, Daniel Davis, of Livingston, Texas; son, Tony Davis, of Livingston, Texas; son, Christopher Whattys, of Livingston, Texas; son, Christian Whattys, of Livingston, Texas; brother and sister-in-law. J.J. Barnes and Bernice, of Detroit, Michigan; sister and brother-in-law, Ortheia and Robert Kinnerly, of Detroit, Michigan; sister and brother-in-law, Vivian and Otis Green, of Livingston, Texas; twenty-three grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Melvin Barnes will be held, Saturday, December 22, 2012, at 11:00 AM, at Livingston Church of God in Christ. Bishop Rayford Chimney will be officiating.
