Melvin Taylor 83 of Onalaska passed away Monday September 28, 2009. Memorial services will be Thursday October 1, 2009 at 10:00AM in the Cochran Funeral Home Onalaska Chapel with Bro. Don Wilkey officiating.
Melvin was born November 7, 1925 in Spiro, Oklahoma to parents Elmer Taylor and Stella Corbin Jackson. He was a United States Veteran having served in the United States Army during WWII. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Onalaska, and loved to hunting, fishing, and gardening.
Melvin is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Lori Ann Thomas, grandchildren Chrissy Bovee, Jeremy Canady, and Rebekah Thomas, and brother Sherman Jackson.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Hazel Taylor of Onalaska, children Billy Wayne Taylor of Cleveland, Rodney Anthoney Taylor of Mayflower AR., Debbie Marie Griffith of Junction City, AR., Timothy Jay Taylor of Norphlet, Ar., Melvin Hodgkiss of Austin, and his 19 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Raymond Jackson of Spiro of OK., William Jackson of Spiro, OK., Johnny Jackson of Orville, CA., Roger Jackson of Suttercreek, CA., and sisters Lela Blackburn of Sallisaw, OK., Ruby Treece of Tulare, CA., Melba Jean Byrd of Trona, CA., and Fern Clark of Hemit, CA.
