Services for Merle Jay Cook, 81, of Livingston, Texas, will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas with Rev. Roy Askins officiating. Interment will follow at Camp Ruby Cemetery in Livingston, Texas. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM, prior to service time on Wednesday. Military honors will be provided by VFW Honor Guard Post #8568.
Merle was born on February 13, 1932 in Bolivar, New York, to parents, Leighton M. and Margaret C. (Peck) Cook and passed away on December 29, 2013 in Livingston, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents; sons, Merle John Cook and Mark Andrew Cook; brother, Robert Dale Cook; granddaughter, Delana Denise Cottrell. He is survived by his wife, Juanita Cook of Livingston, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Stave Ragsdale of Livingston, Texas; daughter, Delana Cottrell of Rosenberg, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Larry Burnett of Livingston, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Robbie Cook of Moscow, Texas; son, Kevin Cook of Livingston, Texas; grandchildren, Christina Ramirez, Christopher and LeAnn West, Michael and Shanna West, Tammy Cottrell, Merle Jacob Cook, Juanita Cook, Johnathan and Felicia Cook, Mark Cook, Mary and Mike Pitsky, Rose and Allan Meyer, David and Ashley Faver, Ariel Burnett, Laura and Kevin Lenox, Emily Cook, Kevin Cook II, Cheri Cook, Shelly Barrett; 38 great-grandchildren; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
