LIVINGSTON -- Mildred Irlene Curtis (Rolin), 88 of Livingston, Texas, was born in Ozawkie, Kansas, on November 27, 1923, to Frank Rolin and Addie Lee Owens. She passed away on January 10, 2012 at the Bradford at Brookside Convalescent Center in Livingston. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert G. Curtis and brothers, Dale G. Rolin and Dwight D. Rolin. Midge is survived by her son, Ricky F. Curtis and his wife Barbara of Fountain City, Indiana, and daughter Sandi A. Curtis of Poway, California. Grandchildren, Timothy M. Curtis of Grand Prairie, Texas, Kristen M. Verheijen-Pina, San Diego, California, and Kelly J. Curtis-Hill, of Springtown, Texas. Great Grandchildren, Casey J. Meister, Chandler M. Curtis, and Nathan A. Hill, and Travis E. Pina.
Midge retired after 23 years in 1988 as Transportation Manager of ITOFCA Inc. a piggy-back rail freight company in Houston, Texas and was a volunteer dispatcher for the Big Thicket Volunteer Fire Department near Rye, Texas for many years. She was also a member of the Livingston VFW - Post 8568. Mrs. Curtis supported many patriotic projects including the Wounded Warrriors, and Hospitalized Veterans charities. Midge was a devoted and loving mother and was known to have helped many other throughout her lifetime.
Visitation will be held between 5-7 pm. Monday, January 16, at Cochran Funeral Home. Graveside Services and burial will be held at 1 pm. at the Houston National Cemetery on Tuesday, January 17, 2012.
