Miller was born on February 14, 1927, in Livingston to Robert Lee and Matti Moffett. He is proceeded in death by his wife, Margaret, his parents and all of his sisters and brothers. He is survived by his son Matthew Miller Moffett and Silvana. Grandchildren, Marcus Miller Moffett and Nature, Mason Miller Moffett, Hailea and Ryan Williams, Brianna Johnson and Justin Milner as well as numerous extended family and dear friends.
Miller was born in Polk County, and died here, in his beloved Goodrich. After watching all his brothers go off to WWII, he got his mother to go sign with him to become a US Marine at 17. Miller served in the Pacific to Nagasaki and finally in North China before coming home to Goodrich. Once a Marine, always a Marine!
Miller enjoyed a full and adventurous life. He went to work in the oilfields of South Texas and worked designing chemical plants in Pasadena before returning home to Goodrich to build the Burger Ranch and Moffett's Food Fair. He also served as Mayor of Goodrich for 20 years getting the streets paved and the water/sewer system in place.
After selling all the businesses, he joined the Polk Co Sheriffs office as a bailiff. He retired there twice. His final retirement was at 94 years old. Many remember him from his artist sketches on a coffee cup.
Throughout his life Miller was an avid sportsman. He loved to hunt and fish. He loved being with his friends hunting. He made his last dove hunt at the age of 97 by dropping a dove on his final shot!
Miller lived a life of example, he was humble and kind, who loved to talk to people. His generation laid the foundation from which we all enjoy the benefits.
Pallbearers: Marcus Moffett, Mason Moffett, Craig Manning, Leroy Hudson, Ryan Williams, Justin Milner, and the Polk County Sherriff's Office
