Obituary

Funeral services for Myers Martin Pace, 90, of Chester, Texas, will be held Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas with Norman Turner and Raymond Wallace officiating. Interment will follow in the Gay Cemetery in Moscow, Texas. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 30, 2015 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.

Mr. Pace was born June 19, 1925 in Deweyville, Texas to parents, Jim Pace and Sally (Veal) Pace and passed away September 26, 2015 in Woodville, Texas. During his life, he attended school at Camp Ruby through the 9th grade and he finished in Livingston in May 1943. In June 1943, Myers joined the United States Navy and became an operating room tech. After 3 years, he received an honorable discharge. After the military, he attended Sam Houston for 3 years. In 1948, along with his parents, Jim and Sally Pace, Myers opened a grocery store. From May 1949 to December 1957, Myers was a member of the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department Unit #20. He was also the fire department secretary from 1956 to 1957. After his retirement, he moved to Chester in 1981 to tend to the farm that was the love of his eye. He loved to take care of his cows, bale hay, hunt and fish. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Judy Pace; brother, James Pace; and sister, Louise Sanders.

He is survived by his wife, Leah Pace of Chester, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Linda Grimes; granddaughters, Amy Thornton and Emily Strickland; grandsons, Fred Henry III and John Grimes; great-grandsons, Barrett Smith, Fred Henry IV, Tyler Henry and Colt Henry; great-great granddaughter, Danielle Whitman Smith; sister-in-law, Maurice Pace; caregiver, Romona Dailey; 5 nieces and nephews; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
